The Medical Assistant Program is a comprehensive course designed to prepare the student
in gaining a greater understanding of the medical office environment, both
in the front office and administering to the needs of the patient and the doctor.
Graduates in this program will obtain the knowledge and skills in the areas
of administrative, clinical, and laboratory procedures, phlebotomy, EKG procedures,
medical terminology, anatomy & physiology, record keeping, insurance billing
and pharmacology. The graduate will also learn the latest word processing
software applications needed to succeed in today’s job market. Additionally, graduates
will develop job-seeking and interpersonal skills. Graduates of the Medical
Assistant program will be able to seek employment in doctors' offices, hospitals,
or related businesses. TOTAL CLOCK HOURS: 940 ESTIMATED COMPLETION TIME: 10 months for days students/14 months for evening students. NOTE: Externship students may complete a maximum of 5 hours per day *The Medical Assistant Program is accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs (www.caahep.org) upon the recommendation of the Curriculum Review Board of the American Association of Medical Assistants Endowment (AAMAE). |
