Technical Career Education and Training-Computer Career Center Coming soon: Advanced Technical Support Classes and Residency Programs Computer Career Center (CCC) has two convenient campus locations in Amarillo, Texas and Lubbock, Texas. Both campus locations are offering computer technology and technical support certification training programs in 5 major areas of computer and network administration. These areas are: A+ Course preparing students for the CompTIA A+ certification, which verifies that they are competent in computer installation, diagnosis, repair, maintenance, and basic networking procedures. Components include hardware and system installation, repair, and troubleshooting; networking and security; and scanner and printer installation and maintenance. This course is 96 clock hours to completion. Network+ Course preparing students for the CompTIA Network+ certification, which ensures that they are adept at network setup and configuration, including TCP/IP protocols, network hardware, Ethernet connections, and network security and encryption. This course is 64 clock hours to complete. Security 5 Course preparing students for the Security 5 certification exam and certificate, which ensures that they are skilled in identifying and diagnosing spam, viruses, phishing, and other threats to computer security and integrity -- as well as desktop security, operating systems security, and secure networking and Internet setups. This program takes 16 clock hours to complete. MCDST Course preparing students for the Microsoft Certified Desktop Support Technician exam and certificate, which identifies students as competent in troubleshooting and maintaining Windows desktop environments. MCP Course preparing students for the Microsoft Certified Professional exam and certificate, demonstrating that students are proficient in installing and troubleshooting the Windows XP Professional desktop environment. Microsoft programs take 96 clock hours to complete. These five programs can also be taken simultaneously by applying for CCC's Certification Training Membership. This membership-exclusive study program enables students to prepare for several network administration exams at once. These professional certification training programs give Amarillo and Lubbock, TX CCC students the necessary tools to prepare for careers in computer technical support, including hardware repair and network support; as well as Windows desktop and program troubleshooting and problem-solving. By the end of the calendar year, students will be able to enroll in residential programs in Amarillo and Lubbock that offer all five network administration concentrations through various network administration and technical support classes. |

Information about the forthcoming Advanced Technical Support residential classes and career training program at the CCC branches in Amarillo and Lubbock, TX After completing the residential Advanced Technical Support classes, students will understand how to repair and maintain desktop and laptop computer systems, including hardware, software, and network components. This technical support program will enable students to pursue careers in computer repair and maintenance upon program completion. As they progress through the Advanced Technical Support residential program, students will also learn how to install, troubleshoot, and maintain Microsoft Office professional software packages. They will acquire skills in computer networking, including network hardware setup and configuration. One of the classes in the Advanced Technical Support program gives students an opportunity to be exposed to the SQL server and Linux environments. Other, more complex concepts students will learn in the Advanced Technical Support residential program include working with active directories and servers. Students will learn how to use and maintain active directories - or, hierarchical services that catalog information about the network for which the administrator is responsible. They will learn how to install, configure, and administer Active Directory services in the Microsoft Windows 2003 networking environment. Students will also complete several classes in CCNA, or the Cisco Certified Network Associate program. They will be comfortable with TCP/IP networking protocols, local area networks (LAN), wide area networks (WAN), and network administration. They will learn how to set up and troubleshoot simple and advanced router configurations, and they will learn the fundamentals of network design. This group of classes is complemented by a lab course in which students have the opportunity to design and build a working network from the bottom up. Before seeking careers in technical support, network administration, or computer repair, students complete a class in career development. Each student enrolled in the Advanced Technical Support residential program also has opportunities to participate in career advising sessions, and can learn to write strong resumes and job application materials. Students will have opportunities to contact prospective employers for whom their skill sets might be a good match, as well. This training program is 1,110 hours in length.
