Medical Information Specialist job prospects are projected to be very good. Employment
of medical records and health information technicians is expected to grow
much faster than average for all occupations through 2014 because of rapid growth
in the number of medical tests, treatments, and procedures that will be increasingly
scrutinized by health insurance companies, regulators, courts, and consumers.
Also, technicians who have received training from a technical school will
be needed to go into patient information into computer databases to act in
accordance with with Federal legislation mandating the use of electronic patient
records. Graduates in the Medical Information Specialist program will be able
to seek entry-level positions in medical, dental, hospital or other related medical
environments. TOTAL CLOCK HOURS: 900 ESTIMATED COMPLETION TIME: 10 months for days students/14 months for evening students. NOTE: Externship students may complete a maximum of 5 hours per day. |
