As students move through the Advanced Technical Support residential program, they will develop the skills to install, troubleshoot, and maintain Microsoft Office professional software. They will become knowledgeable in computer networking, including network hardware setup and configuration. Courses expose students to such intricate computer designs as SQL servers and Linux environments during their time in the Advanced Technical Support program.

The Advanced Technical Support residential program will teach complex concepts through the study of active directories and servers. Students will learn how to use and maintain these active directories, which are hierarchical services that catalog information about the network. Installing, configuring, and administering Active Directory services in the Microsoft Windows 2003 networking environment will become second nature to students through the skills they develop in this program.

Students will also take classes in CCNA, or the Cisco Certified Network Associate program. They will become comfortable with TCP/IP networking protocols, local area networks (LAN), wide area networks (WAN), and network administration. They will learn to set up and troubleshoot both simple and advanced router configurations, and also learn the fundamentals of network design. These courses are complemented by lab work where students have the opportunity to design and build a working network themselves.

Before starting their careers in technical support, network administration, or computer repair, students will take a class in career development. Each student also has the opportunity to participate in career advising sessions, where they can learn to write strong resumes and produce competitive job application materials. Students will be able to contact prospective employers and display their skill sets through phone interviews in order to prepare themselves for the future.

This training program is 1,110 hours in length.
After finishing the residential Advanced Technical Support courses, students will know how to repair and maintain desktop and laptop computer systems, including hardware, software, and network components.
