

Legal Information Specialist Training in El Paso, TX Legal Information Specialists, also known as Legal Assistant, help lawyers with administrative preparations before trials, hearings, closings, and meetings. These assistants verify the facts used in cases and ensure that information is not being omitted. They provide the resources to help identify laws and past judicial decisions that a lawyer may need to reference. In addition to producing and organizing the materials, legal assistants may write reports that lawyers use to make decisions on how to handle a case. Other duties legal assistants perform are clarifying arguments, drafting pleads and motions, assisting during trials, and obtaining affidavits. The Legal Information Specialist Program is a comprehensive course designed to assist
the student in gaining the necessary skills to work in a legal office. Graduates
in this program will learn computerized legal office records management,
legal terminology, legal transcription, and business law that will assist them
in becoming effective employees in the legal office profession. The student will
also learn the latest software applications in word and data processing necessary
to succeed in today’s job market. Additionally, the graduate will learn job-seeking
and interpersonal skills. Graduates of the Legal Information Specialist
program will be able to seek entry-level positions in law offices, courthouses,
government agencies and other related businesses. TOTAL CLOCK HOURS: 870 ESTIMATED COMPLETION TIME: 10 months for days students/14 months for evening students WITH EXTERNSHIP PROGRAM - 1020 HOURS - 13 months for days students/16 months for evening students **EXTERNSHIP-LEGAL (optional) Students may elect to enroll in an externship program in conjunction with the Adjutant General’s Office at Fort Bliss, the Attorney General of Texas, or comparable law office. |
