

Become a Vocational Nurse at CCC in El Paso, TX The Computer Career Center offers classes leading to a certificate to become a Vocational Nurse. The program produces qualified nurses who are able to administer treatments and care to patients. Those who complete their certification are eligible for the National Council Licensure Examination for Vocational Nurses (NCLEX-PN) or work in clinics, hospitals, or long-term health care facilities. Vocational nurses spend their days attending to patient care and taking vital signs. They consistently monitor their patients’ conditions and report them back to doctors, looking out especially for reactions to treatments and medications. Collecting samples for testing is also part of a vocational nurse’s job, which are used for routine laboratory tests. They also see to feeding patients and documenting what is eaten in comparison with what is put out. Seeing to a patient’s comfort is important, aiding them in dressing, bathing, and staying clean. Some state laws permit vocational nurses to administer medications prescribed by a doctor or begin IV fluids. Some vocational nurses specialize in caring for infants or supervise their nursing assistants and aides. |

The training program at CCC in El Paso, Texas provides vocational nurses with the
education to work in private homes, hospitals, doctors’ offices, and clinics.
Vocational nurses see to the patient’s immediate needs, supervise other nurses,
and develop plans for care. In clinic and office settings, they may also perform
administrative functions such as scheduling appointments, maintaining records,
and other clerical duties. In private homes, vocational nurses provide patients
with basic care, but also train their family members to perform simple tasks
for caring for their loved ones. Because of the increase in home health care services as the population ages, vocational nurses are in higher demand, so training from CCC will ensure a successful career helping others receive the care they need.
